First Minister Opens Airlink Groups’ new offices in the heart of Glasgow.
The First Minister officially opened Airlink Groups’ new head office in Glasgow.
Airlink Group was founded in 1994 by John McGlynn as a student at Strathclyde University and now specialises in Car parking, Strategic Land, Commercial Property, Self-Storage and Asset Management.
Alex Salmond said "The opening of these new premises right in the heart of Glasgow is a welcome sign of Airlink's success as a home-grown Scottish business. Since its inception in 1994 the company has grown to a turnover of £10 million and a staff of 50 people.
"Growth like that is significant at any time, but in tough economic times like these it is particularly welcome - not just for Airlink but for the Glasgow economy as a whole. Glasgow's further economic development is key to the Scottish Government's growth strategy and I value very highly the contribution of businesses like Airlink.
"A skilled and committed workforce with inspired leadership is key to Airlink's progress, and also what makes Scotland such a great place for companies to grow and invest. I congratulate the team and wish them the very best in their new HQ."
Airlink Goup Founder John McGlynn said: “Despite the economic climate, Airlinks’ various businesses are entering an exciting phase of continued growth, we have evolved from a small start up car parking business and have diversified and developed into a group of over 20 different businesses and we run these on an asset management model. The next chapter for us is to use that asset management knowledge we have to work with partners in the global finance industry like pension funds to partner with us and make further investments with us in Scotland.”
